There is also a document from the British Government noting the death of Trooper B.C. Story in the great war, and a printed note from Buckingham Palace acknowledging his loss. H Story is listed in the book as owner of Naivasha Stores and Rift Valley Hotel and a 1000-acre farm 20 miles from Naivasha there is a full page showing photographs of the Hotel, The Stores and The Farm pencil note below "Father" Although not a hunting title the book gives an in-depth survey of the country and the British attitude. there are some excellent photos including ivory being weighed, the farms and people, the fauna etc., includes a section on game in East Africa by A Blayney Percival.

The subscriber's edition has 62 plates against 36 found in the ordinary 1st edition of 1890 and the Keltie introduction on Stanley in Africa. A vg clean copy seldom found in this condition, the text block is heavy and pulls from the binding in many cases. Stanley's expedition through the heart of East Africa to the land of the Nile originally intended as a rescue mission for Emin Pasha although failing in its primary objective Stanley discovered the snowcapped range of Ruwenzori the mountains of the moon.
