Publishers advert to rear board, spine chipped with loss. A tight copy in purpose made cloth drop over box leather title label to spine. 1st published in 1816, this is the 1st edition to be published with the author's last additions and corrections. In the preface Salter stated his motive for publishing the book was to enable fishing tackle dealers to sell at a small price to the novice angler a work of real practical information, instead of the numerous catch penny pamphlets on angling which have inundated these shops. The rods are photographed and show good detail; some of the rods offered are eg. wood bottom trolling rods, roach rods, cane fly rods, greenheart rods, mahseer and other rods. At the end of the catalogue are 5 pages relating to accessories, original 1/4 cloth over heavy paper covered boards with details of the company printed to upper board.
