Sporting book plate of "George Coats Parker" to front paste down. Publisher's light blue cloth with gilt title and gun motif to upper board, rear top 2cm corner of spine cloth chipped, some light rubbing to edge. The binding and contents tight, a title seldom found in vg condition, the text block is heavy which often pulls from the binding 1st published in 1881 it was subsequently brought up to date, the 9th was the last edition. Riling notes Greener in 1896 describes the 3rd edition as the best, this distinction now belongs properly to the ninth and last edition. A book of great importance to arms enthusiasts and gun book collectors alike. Riling 1088
