Summary: 104 (16) pages, 4to., tipped in original albumen photograph frontis of Mary Bignold, over 100 illus from drawings throughout. the last (16) pages printed on 1 side are sepia illus and drawings by Speed "of various spots scattered about the forests of Loch Rosque, Strathbran and Achanalt in the more recent seasons". Some spotting to frontis and tissue guard, original maroon cloth, gilt antlers to upper board with the letters MB beneath, some light discolouration to cloth in places. A rare title COPAC located only 2 copies at Durham University and the National Library of Scotland. A journal of a sporting season in Achanalt Ross-shire from leaving Euston Station in August 1885 to the last entry on December 21st followed by "deaths 1885", days recorded all have illustrations for the days of sport etc., The book is dedicated to "Mistress Bignold" by Lancelot Speed, the estate was owned by Mary's father Sir Arthur Bignold, it is thought Mary inherited the estate on his death in 1915. The book was reprinted in a limited edition in 1996 by David Grayling using Kenneth Whiteheads copy
