Frontis and 80 etched aquatint plates by Bridges and Maddox, 71 finely hand coloured some heightened with gold and silver, 10 are uncoloured plates of armour and weapons. There are also 27 hand coloured chapter initials also heightened with gold, plate 22 has a small smudge mark to the colouring. Bound in contemporary ? red Morrocco spine in compartments with armorial motifs, some rubbing to the spines, wth later cloth slipcases. The first edition published by Robert Jennings, appeared in 1824 This second and best edition of 1842 the colouring is more brilliant and stronger than that found in the 1st and has been corrected and enlarged the frontis of showing a joust did not appear in the 1st. One of the best colour plate books on Armour. And an important guide to ancient armour Meyrick who was a historian and collector of arms and armour, and he constructed Goodrich Court specifically to display his collection of arms and armour.
