Blue cloth backed paper covered boards with printed paper title label to the upper cover, small scuff mark to rear cover and light rubbing to outer corners. Published in a limitation of 500 copies, the first 25 specially bound and numbered copies. and the first 100 numbered 26 to 125, this copy numbered 56. Signed on the forward page in ink John Brereton, with presentation inscription to his Godmother from Jack to the front-end paper. In Scott's autobiography "The Eye of the Wind" pp56 he wrote the co-author as Michael Dilkie who provided the text and Scott the illustrations. John Brereton arranged the publication; it was published privately under the authorship of three schoolboys so the sponsors could not be charged with exploiting Scott's Antarctic connection. Scott mentions that "My drawings were printed either crooked or, in the worst cases upside down". The book contains some of Scott's earliest published illustrations.
