The plates and text in near fine condition with no foxing. The fine plates are drawn by C. Curtis and are hand-coloured to a high standard, bound after the Salmon plate are 24 blank pages with some occasional spotting, Publishers printed paper front cover bound in and the plain rear paper cover bound in after the blank pages. The front and rear end papers show some spotting, presentation inscription dated 1905 to the front end paper. Bound in later but not recent half black morroco over grey cloth covered boards gilt title to the upper cover. A very good copy. "The drawings by Mr. C. Curtis illustrating Mr. Yarrell's paper were exhibited to the British Association at Newcastle and were then much admired. The coloured engravings from these now published, are executed with great minuteness and delicacy" (Annals of Natural History, Volume 4, page 344, 1840). Nissen ZBI 4489
