Illustrated "With 158 illustrations, 88 photos, 45 pen and ink sketches and 25 sketch-maps (103 full-page and 67 Coloured Plates)" collated complete from plate list. Signed on the title page and dated 9/7/10 by Hicks and numbered 287in ink. Ownership name to verso of the front-end paper dated Oct 1910. Recased with new rear end papers in the original binding with pictorial paper title label to the upper cover rear cover re-jointed, some surface rubbing. The binding and contents tight and the contents are unusually clean for this title, which is often found lacking plates. Hicks arrived in India in1866 and eventually became an officer in the forest service. Much of the book is devoted to Tiger shooting, including man eaters, how to run a beat for tigers, trapping skinning and pegging out skins etc, there are also episodes of hunting panthers, bison and bear hunting and small game, with some excellent illustrations. Also notes on rifles for dangerous game.
