Two volumes, xxviii, 338 + vii, 319 [32, ads] pp. 6 tinted lithographed plates, 4 plates of hieroglyphics, 5 other plates, and a folding coloured lithographed map at end of volume 2 before the index +. wood engravings in the text. Original yellow ochre pictorial cloth in black and gilt. A partially unopened copy some light spotting to the frontises. Bump to part upper front edge of volume 1 causing slight creasing to the first few pages., light dust soiling to the cloth. A very good tight copy of Burton's second expedition to Midian. He mapped and explored over 600 miles of territory and discovered numerous ancient sites. The hope of a gold discovery did not occur Penzer pp. 96-97
