Summary: 136 pages, advert leaf, LARGE PAPER (260mm x 175mm), TEG, pages uncut, the title page printed in red and black, 9 full page-coloured plates depicting 90 hand-coloured engravings of the most killing patterns + a colour plate of Crawshaw and Co special dyes, various text drawings. Bound in the original half brown morroco with the gold pattern end papers, gilt title to the upper cover. Some darkening to the leather and light rubbing. Halford's first book which was limited to 150 large paper copies on Dutch hand-made paper, 100 copies for England and 50 for America. There was never a limitation page printed for the book. The advert leaf at the end notes "a large paper edition printed on Dutch hand-made paper limited to 100 copies for England and 50 for America price 30s (This Edition is exhausted)", Hayter "F.M Halford And The Dry Fly Revolution" pp110 notes the book had already sold out before publication. The ordinary edition in the same year had a print run of 500 copies. The first of Halfords books, and an influential work on the dry fly.
