xiii,115 pages, Top edge gilt large 4to, illustrate with 24 coloured plates from watercolours by Richard Robjent with, 80 sepia sketches. Limited to 300 numbered copies. This being number 182, signed by Colin Mckelvie and Richard with a sepia sketch below the limitation of a flying woodcock in a woodland scene. Bound in the publishers half dark brown morocco over tan cloth covered boards, with gilt woodcock vignette to front and rear covers. The spine in six compartments with gilt ruled bands, 4 compartments with gilt flying woodcocks, in a matching cloth slipcase, a fine copy also includes the printed card from the publishers, and a dated card 1988 signed "with best wishes from Richard Robjent." The first title of the publisher series on game birds. Includes chapters on The Woocock, Display and Roding, Mating, Nesting & Moulting, Migration, Winter, Asian & American Woodcock, and a select bibliography.
