The appendix is a doleful collection of complaints on the unfair treatment accorded to the Whitworth Gun in official trials, Riling 953. Neatly written on rear paste down "What superiority the British land and sea forces would have had in fire power, range, accuracy, destructiveness and mobility had Whitworth's capabilities been put to earlier use. Even in the present day the British are reluctant to change from the conventional sphere". No copy in the British Library.
