xix 245 243 pages, Two volumes TEG, small 4to., illustrations including 45 illus these consist of 43 full page engravings on Japon paper, the plates engraved by Audinet Linnel, there are 12 engravings in the text after drawings by G.E.Lodge, limited to 350 numbered copies, this being number 71 bound in the original 1/4 velum binding over green cloth boards, gilt fish vignette to spines and flying heron in gilt to upper board. A partly unopened copy, a very clean bright set in the original green cloth DJs in a cloth covered slipcase. The slipcase UNRECORDED by Coigney, Oliver and Horne. The thick card slipcase is covered in the same green cloth as the DJs and the boards of the binding, the title in gilt and imprint is on the short edge rather than on spine backed edge, a few old marks to the cloth. This edition is edited with notes from a naturalist's point of view J.E.Harting who was librarian of the Linnean Society.. A very clean bright fine set in the original DJs and rare slipcase. ?420
