Limited to 350 numbered copies this being number 58 of the special edition signed by Lovat and Ian Oates bound in a half green morroco with gilt stag head vignette to upper board and stag head motifs to spine. Ownership bookplate to front paste down, lacking the publisher's slipcase. There were also a few copies with an original sketch bound in full leather, the ordinary edition is bound in green cloth. A vg + copy. Originally published in 2 volumes in 1848. The second volume from which the text of this book is drawn. It contains fascinating descriptions of deer stalking as it was practiced at that time both in the Highlands and on the Continent
