1976.  reprint Edn,.  Davis.  California.  xii - 97 pages, Large 8vo , Six tipped-in colour plates, + 19 plate of drawings of Japanese hawking and equipment+ 5 b/w of the history of hawking in Japan. Chapters include, history, the sporting hawks of Japan, housing and equipment, methods of obtaining hawks, manning and training, hawking in the field, daily care plates. Yellow buckram, with Japanese text printed in black to the upper covert. Pages cut but a very good copy in acetate dust-wrapper. A publisher's slip loose states that the book was issued with pages uncut and recommends slitting the pages open with an ordinary table knife. Small ownership sticker to the front paste down, a fine copy. First published in 1962 and reprinted by the author in 1976 to satisfy demand by new falconers approximately 700 copies were printed. Schwerdt only list the 1831 one volume 1st edition (vol 1 271pp) as does Chute, 351, as Swift 305-01 but notes this edition, Westward Satchel 124, list the 1831 edition with footnote (A few copies re-issued with new title-page and additional illustrations by Mr Bohn in 1848.)
