Stamp on ½ title “archive copy” (purchased as part of a collection from Witherbys) small paper label with the Witherby vignette to front paste down, inscription on FEP to his dearest mother with the authors love and very many thanks for much kind help and advice. Publishers pictorial binding showing native holding bird in camp scene with title to above, vg. The author travelled to Soudan to add “to our knowledge of the birds and beasts, birds being my special delight”. He was accompanied by C.F.Camburn as a taxidermist, Witherby was disappointed at the lack of mammals. A vg+ association copy.
