Summary: 20, lxxvii, 206, 297, 147 pages, (144pp) glossary, bound with ? titles and title page to each volume 3 Vols, folio, TEG, with 80 engraved plates, 70 are finely hand coloured and 10 uncolored plates of armour and weapons there are also 27 hand coloured chapter initials. Single stamp to verso of each title pages giving class and Acc numbers, no other stamps or marks to the contents. Some occasional foxing to the tissue guard's contents clean as are the plates, the hand colouring bright and clean some of the plates embellished with gold and silver. Bound in a recent ? dark red morroco, with matching cloth boards, the spine in 6 compartments with title and volume numbers to 2 compartment the remaining with 2 gilt ruled boarders with central decorative frames. A vg set in a fine binding. The first edition published by Robert Jennings, in 1824 there is only two locations found in UK libraries for Dowding as publishers at Lambeth Palace and National Museum of Scotland giving dates of 1824? 1830? There was a second edition in 1842. One of the best colour plate books on Armour. And an important guide to ancient armour Meyrick who was a historian and collector of arms and armour, and he constructed Goodrich Court specifically to display his collection of arms and armour ?1350
