The Plate Volume only. 5 pages listing the plates, followed by 156 plates 144 of 145 coloured lithograph plates lacking plate 92 now supplied in a black and white facsimile, 5 plates of diagrams, and the last 6 plates are from photographs. The title page has 2 oval stamps for 1/ Royal Gun and Carriage Factories and 2/ Chief Superintendent of Ordnance. Recently rebound in a plain plum coloured cloth with gilt title to spine. The original end papers 6 pages are present but 2 are relayed down on plain paper. A good + copy. The colour plates show detailed breakdowns of locks, barrels, breach mechanism, firing gear etc
