Summary: ix-187 (i) 4to Illustrations from drawings by the author, small 3.5x 1.5 cm part brown stain tide mark to top blank margin of 2 plates. Original 1/4 tan cloth backed boards with title label to upper board a couple of faint tide marks to part top and bottom edge, lesser so to top edge, a vg copy. Hunting the elephant in the Karamojo region before the 1st World War. The author sketches of hunting elephant and their vital areas, Bell a proponent of small bore rifle shooting for elephant killing them with carefully placed shots at close range. Czech 15 Also Included is a double page hand written letter from Bell from Garve, Ross-shire address (Bell owned a 1000-acre estate here) dated 12 Oct 1951 to W Weyers. Bell starts of discussing hunters and hunting and the ethic's "I leave it to god to decide". He goes on to discuss the difficulty he has to find copies of his book and he needs one for Wheelen. Wheelen a lifelong friend who compiled and edited" Bell of Africa". He finishes the letter with brief reminiscences of Africa and his wish to return. The letter is clearly written in ink some 28 lines and signed by Bell, Bell died on the 30th June 1954.
