Summary: viii(ii) 170 pages, 12mo., engraved frontis showing flies, fishing scene and trout. Interleaved within the fly fishing, fly tying section 20 velum sheets containing a total of 32 mounted flies tied to gut, 1 sheet blank. Each fly opposite the accompanying descriptive text of the fly. All the flies are in good condition, some occasional offsetting to the text. Armorial stamp to front paste down for C.Teesdale. Bound in contemporary tan calf, a vg copy. It may well be the publishers or binder prepared the volume with sheets before binding, I note the 1814 copy in the McKinley sale (Bloomsbury March 2005) which illustrates a similar copy but with only 9 flies. Simpson had a copy of the 1832 edition with 25 flies also published in Ludlow, Heckscher 38 notes an 1806 interleaved copy also published in Ludlow. WS/S 39/40
